A Newcomer's Absurdly Ungraceful Journey Into The World of Pilates

Day Five

I began the morning with a small kitchen fire. And Pilates.

I am happy to report that Pilates was the more pleasant experience, even if I was working out in a room that smelled like the Teachers' Lounge at my elementary school growing up in the days before smoking on school campuses was banned. Ah, the memories.

Struggle of the day... Still the knees, what can I say? They are tighter than a pair of non-elastic jeans after Thanksgiving Dinner. Not that I would know anything about that. I am working on it, though: pushing a little harder than I might otherwise, feeling the burn, whispering dire threats in the general direction of my knees in a voice I hope is appropriately menacing.

Achievement of the day... Didn't cry during "saw." No, not the horror movie. But close. It is one of the most difficult stretches to do with my stubborn knees. But I think I did a good job on that one today.

So, back to cleaning up the charring and smoke.

Wow! I'm just happy that Pilates won that popularity contest. Hope everything is ok!
