Day Eight

Rocky Balboa had Mickey Goldmill.

The Karate Kid had Mr. Miyagi.

I have a very verbal kindergartener.

I was doing my pilates workout today after school (which was my first mistake).  At one point Heather, my fearless video instructor, offered these tempting words, "if you want more", and then proceeded to demonstrate a more challenging variation of the excercise "we" were doing - though, technically, I was the only one actually doing it, since I was watching a dvd (just thought I'd point that out.)

My daughter, who was paying more attention than she ought, said, "You don't want more, do you Mom?"

I think I grunted some sort of reply.

To my credit, I did make some progress.  My knees were a little less softened than they have been, though they are every bit as whiny.

And, as I'm struggling through their protests I can hear, in the back of my mind, the Cobra Kai sensei saying in that sinister villain voice, "Sweep the leg."

It is tempting.  But, as my daughter so lovingly pointed out, I don't want more.
